The most characteristic side effects may include dizziness, nausea, constipation, headache, somnolence, vomiting, pruritus, asthenia, sweating, dyspepsia, dry mouth, diarrhea.

Less serious side effects include weight loss, hypotension, tachycardia, paresthesia, hallucinations, tremors, abdominal pain, blurred vision, urinary retention.

Tramadol may increase the effect of CNS depressants and ethanol.

Carbamazepine and other enzyme-inducing drugs may weaken the analgesic effect of tramadol.

Barbiturates (especially Phenobarbital) may reduce the analgesic effect of opioid analgesics.
