Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) belongs to the group of anti-malarial and immunosuppressive drugs. Plaquenil inhibits malaria pathogens and reduces inflammation. It has a strong immunosuppressive effect (inhibits the activity of the immune system).

Plaquenil is prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis (including juvenile) and lupus erythematosus (systemic and discoid).
